It’s been a minute since Charleston, but Ground Pass On Site is officially back and kicking off the summer swing in style—from the grass courts of Newport, Rhode Island.
Yes, you read that right. Before we hit the hard courts, we’re taking a little detour to the coast for the newly reformatted Hall of Fame Open, which has transformed from an ATP 250 into a combined Challenger event featuring both ATP Challenger and WTA 125 action. It’s grass. It’s casual. It’s full of tennis history. And we’re here for all of it.
If you’re new to Ground Pass On Site, welcome! This is our on-the-ground travel diary where we bring you daily updates from the tournaments we attend, including behind-the-scenes moments, interviews with players, and tips to help you plan your own trip to a tournament someday. Think of us as your tennis travel test run—with way more sunscreen and way less hydration than recommended.
This is our first stop of the summer, but it won’t be the last. We’ll also be doing some housecleaning on the Substack soon, with updates to our subscription tiers and a few new features in the works. We’re a small independent operation, and your support—especially as a paid subscriber—helps keep the whole thing moving.
Stay tuned, stay subscribed, and we’ll see you on the grass 🌱
And if you’ve got a friend thinking about going to a tennis tournament this summer, forward them this newsletter—they might just thank you later.
